Enrollment: Become a Rapoport Raven

APPLY FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

We accept enrollment applications online beginning on Feb. 1 each year. All applications are put into a lottery draw for open spots including the incoming Pre-K class. The deadline to apply to be in the lottery is April 1. 

Our Parent Liaison Catrena Thomas manages the enrollment process and will reach out with a phone call about completing enrollment if your student’s name is drawn. If you do not respond to the call or finish the enrollment paperwork, you will forfeit your spot. 

 

 

    • April 1, 2024 - Applications for the Lottery Draw are due. 

    • April 15, 2024 - The Lottery Draw is held to fill available spots for the 2023 - 2024 school year.

    • April 18 - April 28, 2024 - Notification calls are made to those who are drawn for an available spot. 

    • May 1, 2024 - If you have not received a notification call, please contact Catrena Thomas at 254-315-9198 or 254-754-8000 ext. 2010 to find out where your child is on the waiting list.

    • Please note: Applications are accepted throughout the school year, and those submitted after April 1, 2024, will be added to the 2024-2025 Waiting List in the order received.

    If I miss the deadline for the lottery draw, can I still apply?

    Yes, you can apply at any time to be added to the waiting list

    April 15.

     

    When can I find out what number my child is on the waiting list?

    You can call Catrena Thomas starting April 29, 2024, to find out what number your child is on the waiting list. 

     

    How often do you fill spots?

    We fill spots as they become available.

     

    How long is the application valid?

    The application is valid the entire school year. 

     

    If I apply this school year and do not receive a spot will I have to reapply next year?

    Yes, you will need to reapply for the next school year. We suggest that you apply by March 1st of the following school year to be eligible for the next school year’s lottery draw. 

     

    Are there any exceptions to having an application prioritized?

    Applicants of staff, current siblings and board members are the only eligibility for prioritizing an application.

     

    Will I receive a call if my child has a spot?

    Yes, we will contact you by phone to offer the spot.

  • Applications are accepted throughout the school year and applicants will be put on the waitlist.

  • We will contact you to confirm the information and then notify you if your child receives an enrollment spot via the Lottery Draw or waiting list.

  • After notification, your application will be forwarded to the appropriate campus.

  • Campus staff will contact you to complete the campus-specific enrollment process.

Geographic Boundary

Rapoport Academy Public School is a FREE open-enrollment, lottery-draw, public charter school serving students in PreK - 12th grade from the following Central Texas school districts: Abbott, Axtell, Bosqueville, Bruceville-Eddy, China Spring, Clifton, Connally, Crawford, Gholson, Hubbard, LaVega, Lorena, Mart, McGregor, Midway, Moody, Riesel, Robinson, Valley Mills, Waco, West, and Whitney. A student who resides in these school districts is eligible to attend Rapoport Academy.

 

PreK - 4 Eligibility

PreschoolState law requires that students who enroll in free public Pre-kindergarten meet certain criteria. To be eligible for enrollment in a free prekindergarten class, a child must be at least four years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year and meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements:  

  • is unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or
  • is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student eligible to participate in the
    national free or reduced-price lunch program... guidelines can be found here); or
  • is homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 1143a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child; or
  • is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
  • is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
  • is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code; or
  • is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code; a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code.
