Small Class Size
We cap classes at 17 and grade levels at 68 students. This allows teachers to really get to know their students and their families.

Get to Know Rapoport Academy
Rapoport Academy Public School is a free, open-enrollment public charter school in Waco, Texas serving pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade students from 22 Central Texas districts. Rigorous, hands-on, relevant and innovative practices provide a curriculum that prepares graduates to be successful at top colleges and universities. Small class sizes allow for individualized instruction and an intentional, relationship-building community.

Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA)
The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was established to provide outstanding teachers with an accessible pathway to a six-figure salary. Unlike previous education programs, the Teacher Incentive Allotment is not a grant.
Through our approved local designation system, Rapoport Academy can identify and designate outstanding teachers based on student growth and classroom observation. Employing designated teachers generates extra funding for districts to reward top performers.
At Rapoport Academy:
- Any teacher in any subject can potentially qualify for TIA based on T-TESS evaluations and student growth
- Ratings are based 50/50 on Evaluations & Student Growth
**85% goes to the designated teacher.

Additional employment details
- 10-month staff receive 7 personal days of leave
- $300 per month for employee health insurance
- Orientation/Mentor program for teachers new to RAPS
- 17 students per class / 68 students per grade
- $500 for Masters and $500 for Doctorate
- Professional Development is Encouraged
- Instructional Coaching and Content Support
- $100 per classroom teacher budget
Rapoport Academy Public School currently offers the following benefit programs to eligible employees in the manner prescribed by law:
- Teacher Retirement
- Health Insurance Plans, including multiple TRS-ActiveCare Plans
- Supplemental Insurance Plans, including but not limited to: dental, vision, disability, accident, cancer, critical illness, gap, life insurance, and a medical reimbursement plan. Recuro (formerly WellVia) telehealth is a free benefit to all RAPS employee
- COBRA
Health Coverage Benefits
Rapoport Academy Public School offers medical coverage through TRS-Active Care, the statewide public school health insurance program to all eligible employees. The school’s annual contribution to the plan(s) is also approved on an annual basis by the Board of Directors. Employees get many school breaks and holidays throughout the school year and at least one protected planning day per month.
Breaks/holidays include:
- Labor Day Holiday
- Fall Break (a week off in October)
- Thanksgiving Holiday (a week off in November)
- Winter Break (2 weeks off in Dec.- Jan.)
- MLK Day
- President’s Day
- Spring Break (a week off in March)
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- District & Campus Offices are also closed the week of 4th of July and have a relaxed summer schedule with a 4-day week.
