Student Activities

Rapoport Academy Meyer High School provides a variety of clubs where students gain skills in leadership, communication, and independence. From art and business to service and academics, there is a place for everyone to plug in!

While some clubs exist at the elementary and middle school levels, high school offers the most opportunities to join a group.

  • Both our middle and high schools have a Student Council (STUCO). This group of leaders plans events for the student body, including dances, Red Ribbon Week, Homecoming, and more! STUCO is all about creative independence, school spirit, and community fun.

    How to Join:

Sign up at the beginning of the year. Class officers are elected, but anyone can volunteer and attend meetings.

    What the Club Does:

📅 What STUCO Does All Year Long:

    • September: Welcome back! 🎊 Host the Fall Dance, pep rally 🏅, and get ready for Red Ribbon Week.

    • May: Rock those Extravaganza shirts, set up & celebrate 🎈 then end the year with a sweet STUCO ice cream party! 🍦
  • The National Honor Society logo features a torch and text on a white background.Make a difference in your school and community by joining the National Honor Society! NHS is more than just an honor—it’s a chance to give back, build leadership skills, and be part of something meaningful.

Students with a 3.5 GPA or higher are eligible for selection during their sophomore year. To be inducted, students must also have prior community service hours and zero referrals.

Once inducted, members complete 10 community service hours each semester—4 school-based hours and 6 hours with outside organizations. NHS makes earning hours fun by hosting and participating in exciting events that support both our community and our club, including:

    • Selling and participating at Rock the Block
    • Working concession stands at home games
    • Helping host the Fall Festival
    • Participating in Trunk or Treat for the city of Waco
    • Hosting and selling at the End of School Bash

Each year, members are recognized at our induction ceremony:

    • Sophomores receive an NHS certificate
    • Juniors earn an NHS gold pin
    • Seniors are awarded their NHS graduation stole

Being part of the National Honor Society looks great on college applications, helps open doors to scholarships, and most importantly, teaches students the value of leadership, service, and giving back—all while having fun and making lasting memories.

  • Meyer High School Art Club is a vibrant community of student artists who meet regularly to create collaborative work, participate in competitions, and support one another’s artistic growth and exploration. Driven by a shared vision and grounded in the Rapoport core value of creativity, our art club actively champions the arts within our school, across the district, and in the wider community.

How to Join: Sign up at our kick-off meeting at the beginning of each semester! Officers are elected by the students present at our first kick-off meeting, and all Art Club members have ongoing access to our Google Classroom and weekly meetings.

Yearly Events

At the heart of our district is a vibrant calendar designed to bring us all together. From welcoming our newest families during orientation to celebrating our diverse heritage at Cultural Night, these events are more than just dates on a calendar—they are the moments where our students, staff, and families connect and grow as a community.

  • To ensure a smooth start to the year, we host orientations for both new and returning families. Whether held in-person or virtually, these sessions are designed to build community and set your student up for success. Keep an eye out for updates throughout the summer, and visit our Back to School page for all the latest details.

  • Rock the Block/End of School Party

To start and end the year, we hold a big block party at our secondary campus for all RAPS families. We partner with the Greater Waco YMCA to host our fun Rock the Block and End of School parties with games, prizes, a DJ, and food.

    Fall Festival

Our high school clubs and student groups host a fun Fall Festival on campus every year. You can buy low-cost tickets to enjoy activities like a cake walk, BINGO, and face painting. There are even silent auctions and a "Pie-a-Teacher" booth! All the money from the tickets goes directly to the student clubs running each event, so it is a great way to support our kids.

    Parent Night at the Makerspace

Once a year, we host a special night at our TripleWin Makerspace. This is a time for parents and students to build or make something together. In the past, families have tried wood turning, welding, sewing, and pottery painting. This event is free, and we provide all the supplies. Space is limited, so you have to sign up early. Come learn how to make something new with us!

  • Hispanic Heritage Night

Every September, we host a special night to celebrate Hispanic art, music, food, and history. Students from all grades are invited to share their school projects or perform on stage. One of the best parts of the night is the Quinceañera parade, where our high school girls show off their beautiful dresses. It is a wonderful way to learn about different countries and cultures together.

    Black History Night

Black history is a very important part of our school. Our campus is located on the grounds of Paul Quinn College, which was the first historically Black college in Texas. We look forward to celebrating this history every February. During Black History Night, our students perform dances, read poetry, and give speeches. We also display artwork and projects from all over the district. We love inviting guest groups to join us and make the celebration even more special.

  • In the fall, we host a special night focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This event is for our 5th through 12th-grade students and their families. It is a great time to explore new ideas with your students and meet their teachers.

You can jump into hands-on activities and see all the amazing STEM learning happening at our secondary campus. Whether your student is just starting middle school or is a leader in high school, there is something fun for everyone to discover!

  • At Rapoport Academy, we value creativity, and you can see it all on display during Arts Night. This event happens every April and celebrates art from our youngest Ravens all the way up to our award-winning high school artists.

You can see hundreds of art pieces on display in our high school building and even make art together as a family. You can also buy handmade items and snacks from our high school student business owners. It is an amazing night to see how creative our students can be!

  • Our school bands perform two big concerts every year. Musicians from all grade levels come together to show off what they have learned and share their musical talents with the community.

These concerts are free and open to the public, so anyone can come and enjoy the music. We hope you will join us to hear all the great songs our student musicians have been practicing.

  • At Rapoport Academy, both our Middle School and High School proudly celebrate Homecoming Week during basketball season! This spirited week features a variety of exciting activities, including themed dress-up days, an energizing pep rally, the highly anticipated homecoming game, and a memorable homecoming dance.

  • Middle School and High School throw multiple dances every year, and you’re invited to all the fun! Each dance has its own unique theme and time based on grade level.

All middle school dances are held at the Secondary Campus, while high school dances take place at exciting off-campus venues. Every dance includes food, drinks, and snacks—so come ready to dance, eat, and have a great time!

  • All grade levels wrap up the school year with an exciting, high-energy field day! Kinder–8th kicks things off with “Splash-N-Dash,” featuring water balloons, a variety of sports, colorful chalk, obstacle courses, and so much more.

Meanwhile, our High School Extravaganza turns up the fun with snow cones, catered food, water games, arts and crafts, competitive sports, tug-of-war, bounce houses, and even hiking adventures!

  • Core Values – At Rapoport Academy, we value student and staff recognition. Rapoport Academy is known for its six core values: Hard Work, Integrity, Responsibility, Creativity, Curiosity, and Respect. Each quarter, awards are given to six students who exemplify one of these core values. From Pre-K through middle school, every grade level recognizes six students for demonstrating core values. These students are selected by the teachers in each grade level.

For high school, only six students from the entire campus can be selected. These students are chosen by their peers! All high school students receive a form where they can nominate their choices for each core value award.

Every Raven Every Day – This quarterly district-level honor celebrates the heart of Rapoport Academy—the creative, hardworking staff who live out our core values every single day.

Anyone in our community can submit a nomination. Each honoree is surprised with a commemorative certificate, cash, a custom 3D-printed raven, and formal recognition at a Board of Directors meeting.  Winners are chosen at random, so every nomination acts as an "entry" for that person. More nominations = more chances to be recognized!

You can submit a nomination here >
