Family Weekly Announcements - 12/11-15/2023

From Dr. Ellis . . .

This coming Monday is an important day in the life of our school district.  Every year our high school seniors present their Senior Thesis to the entire High School student body.  It is an incredible rite of passage at Rapoport Academy for students to research and write about an important topic of their choosing and present to over 200 people.  They are better prepared for College, Career, and Life because of this experience.  Please join me in wishing good luck to many of our High School Seniors.  Those not presenting this Fall will present at the end of the Spring semester.

Please call our Administrative Assistants to set up your 15 minute time slot to meet with some of your child's teachers.  At Rapoport Academy we expect ALL families to attend Parent Teacher Conferences in order to make better connections between home and school and in order to work together as partners in your child's education.   Middle School families will meet with two of your child's teachers together (Math/English Language Arts or Social Studies/Science teachers).  High School families will start with one of your child's teachers and then have the opportunity to go by and talk with any additional that you would like.

Parent Teacher Conference Schedule
Wednesday, December 20 - 4-7pm
Thursday, December 21 - 8am-12pm
You can sign up for your 15 minute time slot by calling the Administrative Assistants below:
5th Grade - Mrs. Williams - 254-296-0261
6th-8th Grades - Ms. Treto - 254-754-8000
9th-12th Grades - Mrs. Mata - 254-754-2288

All Middle School Conferences take place in the Quinn Building (#100) and all High School Conferences take place in the Gomez Building (#500)

Dear Families, we have a few special events that happen during the school day for high school students, including our upcoming Winter Extravaganza, Senior Thesis, and other end of semester fun. Participating in these activities is a privilege and students who have excessive absences or behavioral referrals and students who are missing work in classes will be required to attend study hall during the event(s).

Our Winter Band Concert was a wonderful success. Check out the photo album from the event below:

Important Announcements
Community Circle: “Heard, Seen, Respected Part II”
This Community Circle is for Middle School ONLY.  The purpose of today’s circle is to consider others,  where they come from, what they encounter that is different, and why they may respond in certain ways.

Check-in:  There is a movie on Netflix right now called “Walk, Ride, Rodeo.” It is about a young woman that was injured in a car accident and became paralyzed. Take 30 seconds to imagine what you may feel or how you might change if something similar had occurred to you.
Round 1:
What kind of experiences impact people and the choices they make sometimes?
Round 2:
Should we consider what others are going through before making a decision about how they are responding to a situation?
Round 3:
What experiences have you had that might impact how you respond to others?
Closing:
“Walk, Ride, Rodeo” ends on a really positive note. The young lady had been a barrel racer. Spoiler alert: she learns how to barrel race paralyzed from the waist down and win against other competitors that are completely healthy. Imagine how much our attitudes can impact us and those around us.

Response Needed: Family School Relationship Survey
We need Rapoport Academy parents to participate in our Panorama Family-School Relationships Survey which is designed to gather feedback on various aspects of our school community. Your responses will help us better understand the needs and preferences of our families, allowing us to enhance our programs and services.

The survey covers communication, involvement in your child's education, and feedback for improvement. Your honest response is essential in guiding our efforts to create an environment that fosters learning and growth.

Each survey should only take 3-5 minutes to complete. There are different surveys for each campus and each is anonymous.

Surveys by Campus:
Thank you for your time and feedback!
