Academics

Early College High School (ECHS): Meyer High School is an ECHS through collaboration with Texas State Technical College in Waco. As an ECHS, our students begin taking college courses in the 9th grade and are able to earn up to 60 hours of transferable academic college credit while at Meyer High. Students can also pursue any of the technical certificate or degree programs offered by TSTC (up to 72 hours of credit). All college coursework is offered at no cost to students or their families for tuition, books, and fees. College courses are taught in a variety of formats: 1) Courses taught on our campus by TSTC instructors; 2) Courses taken on TSTC campus (transportation provided); 3) Dual-credit courses taught by Meyer High staff; 4) Distance-learning courses taken on our campus. Students are also eligible to take summer courses on TSTC campus. Our staff, under the leadership of Master Teacher Misti Turbeville, is committed to preparing all students to succeed at the college level through a program of data-driven, student-centered instruction and a robust support system of tutorials, advisory groups, and college prep services.

Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (T STEM):As a T STEM academy, Meyer High School focuses on preparing students for careers in science and technology fields. Our goal is to graduate students who are able to assimilate a wide range information in order to address complex issues that face our 21st century society. To this end, our students participate in STEM research projects that involve sophisticated reseach and problem-solving skills--precisely those skills that are most needed in today's workforce. Students are required to participate in a senior STEM research project or a senior internship that will prepare them for a professional career. Students can participate in several STEM-related extracurricular activities at Meyer High, including teams that participate in Team America Rocketry Challenge and the FIRST Robotics competition.
